Our Mission: Preserving the Voices that Built the City
At Talking Cities, we believe a city is not just made of bricks and streets, but of the stories of those who built it. Our mission is simple yet profound: to give the microphone to senior citizens, to the narrators who lived the history firsthand, so that their memories are not lost.
Through our immersive tours, we transform their tales of resilience, resistance, and daily life into unique self-guided journeys. We want the world to discover how cities maintained their Polish identity during the communist period.
A Circle of Solidarity: Memory is Priceless
Our project is a tool to combat loneliness. By involving the elderly in content creation, we offer them a space for validation, a voice, and a connection with new generations.
To honor the community, local residents of each city have free access to all tours. It is the tourists who, by purchasing the experience, finance the preservation of their history.
Furthermore, a portion of the funds from each tour will be allocated to support programs for senior citizens in the local community, ensuring that the value generated by their stories returns to them.
Talking Cities was born in Zielona Góra, Poland, using technology to honor the past and generate a positive impact in the present. We want to make history: one city at a time.
